It's been a long time since I have managed to update this blog due to various things, including a long bout of poorly children. However, we did manage to get a quick break in Cornwall and the weather was really kind to us.

We explored the coastline and Tintagel Castle which provided breathtaking views and then we looked for the new addition to the rock face which has caused such a stir.

We had to look around as it wasn't easy to spot and hardly anyone seemed to know about it. English Heritage seem to have caused a bit of a hoo-hah by commissioning the new sculpture down by Merlins Cave. They have been accused of "disneyfying" the legendary birthplace of King Arthur. The carving is down by the mouth of the cave where the wizard is said to have taken Arthur as a baby to keep him safe.

We found it and I actually loved it. I'm not so sure about the whole vandalisation opinion. I don't think that. I mean, we were looking for something like in the States on Mount Rushmore (!) and in reality, the whole carving is only a fraction bigger than life size!!!

So, what do you think about it? I am sure that it will add to the mystery as the place has a naturally magical feel! The next day we explored Clovelly which I will show you in the next post!
