Since studying Shakespeare at school, I have long been intrigued by the secret language of flowers created by the Victorians. Each flower symbolised a characteristic, or secret meaning. The flowers were very carefully selected according to these meanings when creating a bouquet for a loved one or chosen to make a posie from a secret admirer! We are thrilled to launch our new Collection of Birth Flowers embroidery patterns. We all know about our birth stones, crystals and signs of the zodiac, but do you know what your associated Birth Flower is? Each month was given (I believe by the Victorians) two flowers which have special meanings, (two were given to enable more choice when creating the posies) and we have created a collection of 12 beautiful hand embroidery patterns, 1 pattern for each month of the year. The linen embroidery patterns may also be freehand machine embroidered, if that is how you would like to embellish them. Each embroidery design is printed in full colour, ready for you to embellish as you choose. We also have mounts in our supplies section which you can use when finishing your piece, ready to go into a frame. These are currently only available as stand alone patterns but full kit versions and stitch sets will be available soon.
